Advice when entering the trade.
Tip #01
When asking a Trades Person or Contractor to complete a check form, you may need to explain that you are putting much trust into them and you need to make sure that they are the right person for your project and this information will help them in choosing the right person with good business practice
Tip #02
When you get the Trades Person or contractor check consent form back to you, it is essential you conduct the check because some people will complete the form hoping you won’t complete the check and they may not be of a character and may not meet the project.
Tip #03
You should always get more than one quote for your project and then ask your preferred to complete the check form.
Tip #04
Don’t be afraid to ask the Trades Person or Contractor to structure better terms especially if they are a newer company or sole trader. Conformation deposit can be smaller (5% of the job) unless the Trades Person or Contractor is applying for council consent, materials paid on the first day of site (most contractors have accounts or credit options) and Labour costs paid at agreed parts of the project and alway pay a Trades Person or Contractor for work unless there is real dispute.
